Dutch Bryological and Lichenological Society

About us

BLWG, founded in 1946, is a society with 420 members (80 from abroad). BLWG organizes activities for members and the public, including field trips, weekends, and an annual symposium. BLWG’s office employs four researchers (Laurens Sparrius, Henk-Jan van der Kolk, Lukas Verboom, and Harold Timans). We specialize in the field of ecological monitoring (effects of nitrogen and climate), monitoring of Natura 2000 species and habitats, species conservation, citizen science projects, and education, such as online courses and the field guides.

Journals
Our open access journal Buxbaumiella is issued three times a year. Buxbaumiella contains reports of field trips, notes on taxonomical groups pertinent to the Netherlands, and recent literature. The journal is in Dutch, but the editors welcome contributions in English. An English summary is provided for all articles. You may contact editor-in-chief Dick Kerkhof for more information. Issues older than two years become open access and can be found in the Naturalis journal repository or Google Scholar.

In cooperation with the Nordic Bryological Society and the Oikos Editorial Office, BLWG publishes the bryological and lichenological Open Access journal Lindbergia (older issues are available via JStor).
